Posting Overview:  

This is an internal/external posting open to Indigenous candidates. First preference will be given to qualified L.K.D.S.B. permanent Secondary teachers.

Reporting to the System Coordinator of Alternative and Continuing Education, the Summer First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Integrated Arts Teacher will provide an First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Integrated Arts (NAC1O) program employing a land-based education approach. The program will also include activities that support the transition of students from grade eight to nine. The program will take place in the First Nations community (site to be determined) as well as at the local LKDSB secondary school. Adult learners who are close relatives of enrolled students may also register for the program upon the approval of the System Coordinator. The program is conditional on sufficient enrollment.

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification required; 
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching various arts disciplines that explore or reflect First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives, culture, and traditions preferred;
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching land-based educational approaches preferred;
  • Knowledge of Kettle and Stony Point, Bkejwanong, or Aamjiwnaang and their geographical features an asset;
  • Experience working with Indigenous students an asset.

Only those who self-identify as Indigenous will be considered.

Position Effective Date & Length - Duration & Schedule:

Three positions available.
9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., 110 hours total 
Rate: $58.58 per hour
