Posting Overview :
The Administrative Assistant supports the Superintendent of Education - Early Years/Elementary Program by assisting with administrative, secretarial, financial, and contractual activities. This role requires a thorough understanding of board-wide organization, policies, regulations, procedures, and employee contracts.
• Minimum two-year college diploma in a related discipline (related experience and education will be considered);
• Minimum seven years of administrative experience is required.

• Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with all levels of the organization, trustees and the public;
• Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills;
• Ability to work under the constant pressure of changing priorities and short timelines;
• Ability to independently compose correspondence, answer inquiries, and supply information on a wide variety of topics for administrators, teachers, staff, and the public;
• Excellent judgement, tact and diplomacy in order to respond to numerous queries of a sensitive and confidential nature from a variety of sources;
• Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, Student Administrative Systems, email in order to produce and maintain reports;
• Working knowledge of the Education Statutes and Regulations of Ontario;
• Thorough understanding of the Board’s budget process as it relates to portfolio responsibilities;
• Strong analytical ability with exceptional attention to detail;
• Scheduling and coordination of various meetings, preparation of agendas and documents, taking and distribution of minutes;
• Demonstrated ability to use independent judgement in the performance of a variety of complex duties requiring accuracy, speed and sensitivity;
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member within Senior Administration, Education Centre and school staff;
• Access to reliable transportation as some travel will be required;
• All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Education - Early Years/Elementary Program.
Position Effective Date & Length :
Permanent, 12 month, non-union position.
Level 3 - $72,499 - $80,554
